On behalf of the Global Protection Cluster and the IASC Mental Health and Psycho-Social Support (MHPSS) reference group, we are pleased to announce the publication of the MPHSS & Protection Outcomes policy discussion paper.
The impetus for this policy discussion paper is to provide protection field colleagues with essential information on MHPSS as an essential protection concern.
In the paper, the authors highlighted 7 key messages for protection clusters to strengthen their engagement and ensure holistic MHPSS services for a stronger protection response.
The central tenet is that MHPSS requires strong cooperation and harmonisation between several sectors. A strong protection lens in MHPSS improves both MHPSS response itself and overall protection outcomes.
Getting MHPSS response right is a litmus test for an effective, coordinated and well led humanitarian and protection response.
We hope that you will find this policy discussion paper useful for ensuring closer synergies for the benefit of the affected populations.
