World Refugee Day was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 2000.
Every year on 20 June, the United Nations, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and civil society groups around the world hold events to draw public attention to the millions of refugees and internally displaced persons who have been forced to flee their homes due to wars, conflicts and persecution.
World Refugee Day is celebrated in more than 100 countries, including Ukraine. We welcome you to join our future event or initiate your own.
