A Colombian travel Website states that Bogota has only one airport that services domestic and international flights: the El Dorado Airport (Aeropuerto Internacional El Dorado) (4 Feb. 2001).
In 13 September 2001 correspondence, the chief of statistics at the El Dorado Airport's Civil Aeronautic office stated that the director of air operations for the same office informed him that the meteorological chart for 22 December 1999 showed that fog, mist and cloudiness were reported, and that as a result runways 13L and 31R were closed by NOTAM between the hours of 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. The chart did not show any closure of runways due to a storm on that day.
The chief of statistics also reported that flights took place from Bogota to Venezuela on 27 December 1999.
Regarding ticket availability for destinations in the United States from Bogota during the second and third week of May 2000 and subsequent months, the chief of statistics could not obtain such information from the various airlines such as Avianca, Aces, American Airlines, Continental, Delta and others, that regularly schedule flights to United States destinations, including Miami, Los Angeles, New York, Houston, and Atlanta.
