Child Protection Sub-sector
In emergency situations, children are at risk of immediate indiscriminate harm and other forms of abuse resulting from gender discrimination and unequal power relations that lead to sexual violence, kidnapping and recruitment by armed groups. Toxic stress caused by the experience or presence of traumatic events can have a devastating impact on children’s learning, behavior, and emotional and social development.
Within this framework, a subgroup on child protection in emergencies has been created to support the preparation and response to humanitarian situations and disasters in Latin America and the Caribbean. The regional Sub-sector is established at the regional level and is part of the R4V Protection Sector, supporting the refugee and migrant response. Purpose of the Regional Sub-sector is to promote the strengthening, harmonization and facilitation of processes that ensure strategic, adequate, coherent coordination and an effective response in the protection of children and adolescents in emergency situations.

El análisis presentado en este informe se basa principalmente en la información recolectada en el marco del monitoreo de protección y se complementa con datos obtenidos a través de otros medios, con el fin de identificar vacíos de protección, incidentes de protección y violaciones de derechos humanos, así como conocer las capacidades y estrategias de afrontamiento de la población de interés con el fin de reforzar la responsabilidad del Estado y otros actores para proteger a la población afectada e informar la programación de DRC y otras organizaciones de la respuesta humanitaria.

GIFMM Colombia: Evaluación Conjunta de Necesidades - Piloto en Norte de Santander | 2021
Este informe hace referencia al piloto del levantamiento de información presencial realizado por el Grupo Interagencial sobre Flujos Migratorios Mixtos (GIFMM) en asentamientos informales ubicados en los municipios de Cúcuta y Los Patios, en el departamento de Norte de Santander. Las encuestas fueron llevadas a cabo entre el 1 y el 3 de diciembre de 2020 a la población refugiada y migrante que vive en los asentamientos de Valle de la Vega y Alto Viento, y tuvo como objetivo caracterizar a la población que ha llegado a estos lugares, y conocer sus necesidades principales, todo bajo el contexto de la emergencia sanitaria por COVID-19.
