This year, for World Refugee Day, UNHCR in Iran is launching a poetry contest. Post your short poems on Instagram and use the hashtag #refugeepoets.
The best poets will be celebrated by UNHCR and will receive a small prize.
Are you a refugee poet and want to share your talent with the world?
This poetry contest is open to all refugees living in Iran. Your poem can be about the life you and your family have built in Iran, your friends with other refugees or Iranians, your hopes and dreams for the future – or anything you believe the world needs to hear about your experience as a refugee.
How can you participate?
1) Write a short poem on the themes mentioned above
2) Post it on your Instagram as a story and tag us at @UNHCRIran
3) use the hashtag #refugeepoets so we do not miss your poem!
The winners will be announced later this month and will receive a prize.
The poems will be judged on the basis of originality, creativity and how effectively it conveys its message.
The deadline for entries is 20 June 2021!
