TEL AVIV 1968 PARALYMPIC MEDALS
The Tel Aviv 1968 Paralympic Games featured a medal that clearly displayed the emblem of the International Stoke Mandeville Wheelchair Sports Federation (ISMWSF), with their three values – friendship, unity and sportsmanship – written on the three interlocking wheels.
In 1968 many of the Para athletes were war veterans using sport as a form of rehabilitation. This is why people like Moshe Dayan –defence minister of Israel at that time – were often chosen to present medals and trophies.
