He began swimming at age 12.
Why this sport?
Initially an able-bodied swimmer, he quit the sport to focus on his career as an engineer. It was during this period that his vision began to deteriorate. In 2016 he began competing in Para swimming following a seven-year absence from the pool after being invited to try the sport by an organisation for people with a visual impairment in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
