Sport specific information

When and where did you begin this sport?
He was introduced to swimming at age four, and began competing in 2010.
Why this sport?
He began swimming as part of his rehabilitation from his amputation and to help him feel confident in his own body. "I remember saying to my mum I'll never be good at anything because I couldn't walk. I was bound to the wheelchair most of the time just recuperating from surgery. And I initially started swimming as rehabilitation. Since then I've never thought that, 'No, I can't do anything'. I've always thought that [having an impairment] is tough, but swimming is tough as well. I went from a four-and-a-half year old in a wheelchair to competing at state competitions for school at age nine. Based on that, you really can turn things around. That motivates me to put in a lot of hard work for the future."
