Online World Cup Finals: One more spot to go!
World Para Powerlifting announces eight finalists and gives fans the chance to vote for the athlete who will join them on 17 November* 03 Nov 2020Seven months, five competitions, 129 powerlifters from all over the world in action during the COVID-19 pandemic. There is no questioning that the first season of the Online World Cup Series, presented by BIGSER, has been a huge success.
Now it is time to find out the winner.
Nine athletes will be in action on 17 November chasing the title live on World Para Powerlifting Facebook channel.
Eight of them have been announced:
Amalia Perez, Mexico
Anastasiia Mamadamirova, Russia
Cristina Poblador, Colombia
David Degtyarev, Kazakhstan
Jainer Cantillo, Colombia
Latsami Sipaseuth, Laos
Matteo Cattini, Italy
Vera Muratova, Russia
Now three powerlifters will have the chance to take the last spot in the Finals, and the public will be responsible to decide who joins the group. The candidates are:
Mariana D’Andrea, Brazil
Muhamed Nigo, Uganda
Rehab Ahmed, Egypt
Fans can vote for their favourite athlete on World Para Powerlifting social media channels on Facebook and Twitter until Friday (6 November).
For the first time in the season, the competition will be shown live with Technical Officials judging the lifts as they happen and athletes being able to follow the results of the other competitors.
The result system will be different from previous Series as the Online World Cup Final will be a mixed event, and not divided in men's and women's categories. Results will be based on the number of additional points athletes can score.
The winner will receive a bar from World Para Powerlifting partner Eleiko.
The Online World Cup Series was launched in April to give athletes the opportunity to compete from home or their local training place during the COVID-19.
