Three reasons why Thomas Clarion loves skiing
After a strong season, the French Nordic skier shares his love of the sport. 26 Mar 2017France’s Thomas Clarion will be pleased with his 2016-17 season.
He signed off with a win in the middle distance race at the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games Test Event to leave him top of the World Cup rankings, three points clear of Sweden’s Zebastian Modin.
But deciding not to compete in the World Cup Finals in Sapporo, Japan, Clarion was overtaken in the rankings by Modin. There are clear signs of improvement year on year for Clarion, however, who built on last year’s third place finish by earning second spot this season.
The Frenchman will be confident of bettering his bronze medals from Sochi 2014 at next year’s Winter Games and knows keeping momentum from this season will be key to his success. With plenty of skiing left before the Games, Clarion shared the reasons he loves the sport.
The outdoors
“I enjoy spending lots of time outdoors.”
Physical exertion
“I like the sliding element of skiing and the physical exertion involved.”
Teamwork
“I am also fortunate to be able to practise this individual sport as a team.”
The Paralympic Winter Games will take place in PyeongChang from 7-18 March 2018.
