When and where did you begin this sport?
He was introduced to ice sledge hockey in 1996.
Why this sport?
He grew up in Boston, MA, United States, a popular area for ice hockey, and fell in love with the sport at an early age. After his accident his saddest thought was that he wouldn't play again, but during a ski contest he met someone who ran an ice sledge hockey team in Boston. He joined the team and fell in love with the sport all over again.

Impairment
In March 1982 he and a group of friends jumped aboard a freight train to take a shortcut home, but when he tried to step off the train's ladder he fell under it. Surgeons removed his left leg at his knee and amputated his right at the hip in a three-and-a-half-hour operation. (wickedlocal.com, 02 Mar 2010)
