Impairment
She has a congenital condition known as Proximal Femoral Focal Deficiency [PFFD]. She was born with a shortened right femur bone and, after four corrective surgeries, eventually had to have her foot amputated. (Swimming World Magazine, covchurch.org, 21 Sep 2004)
