Yang Ge

Having lost his arm in an accident aged five, Ge took up Para table tennis aged seven-years-old and has gone on to be one of the most dominant forces in the sport.

He made his Paralympic debut in Athens in 2004 winning the bronze medals in the singles class 10 and gold in the team event.

Four years later on home soil in Beijing he secured gold in both events.

At London 2012 he had to settle for silver in the singles, losing to Poland’s Patryk Chojnowski in the final 3-0. He did however win his third successive gold in the team event.

Rio 2016 saw him secure his fifth and sixth Paralympics titles as he dominated the singles and team competitions. In the singles he got revenge over Chojnowski for London 2012 with a 3-2 win in the gold medal match. Team gold was secured with a 2-1 win over Spain.

Away from the Paralympics, Ge secured the 2010 singles and team world titles but could only manage silver in both events four years later.
