LOSS OF COACH
His long-time coach Nuno Alpiarca passed away in April 2020 after a sudden illness. "I would like you to know that I will never forget you because people like this never really die, are never forgotten. SANCTION
He tested positive for the prohibited substance methylhexaneamine at the 2012 European Championships in Stadskanaal, Netherlands. He waived his right to a hearing, and accepted having committed an anti-doping rule violation. He was given a two-year suspension, which began in June 2012 and ruled him out of the 2012 Paralympic Games in London.
