He took up the sport seriously in 2015 in Matsumoto, Japan.
Why this sport?
He represented Japan in ice hockey at the Paralympic Winter Games in 2006 and 2010, winning a silver medal in Vancouver. Later he began looking for sports that would allow him to participate in the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo. He decided on Para powerlifting after he was invited to go and watch a tournament by one of his friends. "I was fascinated by the powerlifters, who were working hard to overcome the limitations they faced."
