Top Para dancers all set for Poland

A star-studded line-up braces up for the penultimate event of the season - Polish Para Dance Sport Open competition that gets underway in Lomianki, Poland from 4-6 October.

The event is the final dress-rehearsal ahead of the grand finale - 2019 World Para Dance Championships, which is scheduled to be held in Bonn, Germany from 29 November  to 1 December.

In the women’s section, keep a close watch on Cheryl Angelelli of the United States. Cheryl, who was left paralysed from chest down, after a diving accident in 1983, has come a long way.  

She returned to the pool in 1998 and competed in her first Paralympics but after being in the sport for well over a decade, decided to end her swimming career in 2013.

However, it did not take long for Angelelli to switch her attention towards ballroom dancing.

And once she was hooked to dancing, Angelelli was quick to excel in her newly acquired career. By 2017, she was ranked as the World’s seventh-highest wheelchair ballroom dancer.

The USA dancer will be keen to make a telling statement in Poland in the combi latin e freestyle category.

Germany’s Pamela Heymanns will also be looking to impresses with her partner Jean Marc in the Female 2 dual standard ahead of her home finale.

In the men’s action, Miha Rednak of Slovenia will be keen to build on his talent and achieve new success. His compatriot Nastija Fijolic is another competitor to look forward too.

Fijolic will be competing in the Female SC2 category and will be keen to make an impression before heading to Bonn, the home of the Paralympic Movement that houses the headquarters of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
