When and where did you begin this sport?
He took up the sport in 2004 during a ski camp at Nozawa Onsen Snow Resort in Japan.
Why this sport?
He originally wanted to be a football goalkeeper before his accident. He was introduced to Para alpine skiing by Ichiro Nomura, a Para sport researcher at university.

CHANGE OF SPORT
After the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, he switched sports from Para alpine skiing to Para cycling with a view to competing at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo. He returned to Para alpine skiing in March 2020 with the aim of winning a medal at the 2022 Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing. "Since the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, I have been challenging in Para cycling competition aiming for the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo. However, after missing a quota place in track for the 2020 Paralympics, I decided to finish this challenge. I want to try again as a Para alpine skier. I can still fight on skis. I can get results. I want to challenge the world's best again. I decided to aim for the next Winter Paralympics in Beijing."
