He took up Para athletics in 2001 at the TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen club in Germany.

Injuries
In 2017 he suffered a bone fracture in his right foot and tore a tendon in his right shoulder while taking part in the German TV show 'Dancing with the Stars'. Impairment
