As in Tel Aviv, the medal for the Heidelberg 1972 Paralympic Games featured the interlocking wheels of the International Stoke Mandeville Wheelchair Sports Federation (ISMWSF). The rim of the medal reads “XXI International Stoke Mandeville Games”.

At this time, there was no differentiation between gold, silver and bronze medals at the Paralympics.
