NPCs Cyprus, Greece and Israel sign mutual agreement
The three will work together to raise more awareness on the Paralympic Movement in their countries 04 May 2021The National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) of Cyprus, Greece and Israel have signed a mutual cooperation and collaboration agreement to promote Paralympic sports and athletes in their countries.
The agreement is a result of initiation raised by the respective NPC’s presidents at the 2018 International Paralympic Committee General Assembly, and further discussed at the European Paralympic Committee General Assembly in Israel.
To celebrate the mutual agreement, a ceremony was held at Nazareth Golden Crown Hotel in Israel that hosted the wheelchair basketball European Championships in 2011. Following the ceremony, a meeting was held to discuss the operative implementation of the agreement on how to promote sports and their athletes.
A two-day goalball tournament also took place, which included three national team members from Greece and Israel participating. A coach from Cyprus was mentored by Israel’s national head coach to pass on knowledge in helping the country develop goalball.
A coach's clinic was also conducted and presented a new system measuring and monitoring the ball movement invented by a group of scientist with collaboration with NPC Israel’s Science and Technology department.
