PARA SWIMMING EDUCATION

World Para Swimming works with its education partners, IPC Academy and World Academy of Sport (WAoS), for the ongoing learning and development of athletes, coaches, classifiers and officials.

With the number of athletes and competition opportunities continuing to rise within World Para Swimming, there is an increased need for the training of both new and experienced Para swimming coaches, classifiers and officials

World Para Swimming will support you through your further and continuous training and development. Our pathway outlines how you can progress in your training and development through national, regional and international sport events. 

World Para Swimming will continue to inform NPCs of all upcoming education programmes. Equally, we welcome initiatives from National Paralympic Committees, National Federations and Local Organising Committees to host education programmes.

Application process, questions and information request

If you have an interest in becoming involved in one of our education programmes, please complete the necessary form or similarly, if you would like to host an education course, you can complete the host application form. Find out more information about our education programme below.

TECHNICAL OFFICIAL training courses

World Para Swimming Technical Officials training courses are designed for either new or experienced officials who wish to become an official, or who are looking to develop their skills through additional training. 

CLASSIFIER training courses

A number of training opportunities exist for suitably qualified individuals who are interested in becoming classifiers for World Para Swimming. 

Classifier training for all World Para Sports is coordinated through the IPC Medical and Scientific department. More information about upcoming training opportunities for classifiers can be found on the IPC website.

COACHES training courses

The ‘World Para Swimming Introduction to Coaching Programme’ is designed for new coaches who are interested in coaching Para Swimming. For experienced coaches, World Para Swimming offers a range of advanced-level courses, these offer an ideal opportunity for those looking to coach elite level athletes or who simply want to increase their knowledge and understanding of the sport.
