GBV risk mitigation in Shelter Programming
Distributions are the most common component of Shelter/NFI programming and are conducted in wildly varying contexts. Well planned and managed distributions can help safeguard the health, security, privacy and dignity of crisis-affected people, while poorly managed distributions can undermine these. This booklet is aimed at Shelter/NFI team members working in distribution assessments, planning, implementation and post distribution monitoring. It highlights ways in which distributions can reduce some of the risks of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and avoid doing harm. Simply put, this booklet is about good distributions
This booklet is targeted at field practitioners. It provides basic information about site planning and gender-based violence risks. It also provides practical guidance for measures which can be taken to reduce risks to affected populations in and around camps and sites.

Gender-Based Violence (GBV) incidents are often hidden, and supporting survivors is always complex and sensitive. This film is for humanitarian workers who may meet people disclosing GBV incidents during a humanitarian operation.
Even in an emergency, no-one wants to live in a camp. given the choice anyone would rather live with a host family in rental accommodation or return to rebuild their home. However, for some people there is no choice and a camp must be built.
This short animation has a particular focus on reducing Gender Based Violence through careful site planning. In so doing it highlights some key actions and positive steps that people involved in site planning need to undertake.
