GLOBAL SHELTER CLUSTER 2020 - ONLINE MEETING
Theme: Impact of Shelter and Settlement
Meeting objectives: To identify and address issues emerging from country level clusters and IASC global level cluster-related initiatives; review Global Shelter Cluster deliverables in 2020; and advance the GSC 2018-2022 Strategy.
Participants: Global Shelter Cluster partners and Shelter Cluster Coordinators.
Event date: 1 to 30 October, 2020

Due to COVID-19 the face-to-face meeting initially planned for June 2020 was postponed to a series of online events that took place from 1 – 30 October 2020.
Plenary sessions guided the meeting, provided the orientation for the side sessions and brought back the feedback from these side sessions. Plenary sessions were open to everyone and they happened from 14h00 to 15h30 Geneva time.
- GSC launch: Opening by coordinators – explanation of the meeting – update on strategy progress – pre-meeting survey (Thursday, 1 October from 14h00 to 15h30 Geneva time)
- Keynote address: The Special Rapporteur on the Right to Adequate Housing presented on the theme of the meeting and answered questions from the audience (Tuesday, 13 October from 14h00 to 15h30 Geneva time)
- Ignite Talk: Panelists (TBC) will presented on the theme of the meeting and answered questions from the audience (Wednesday, 14 October from 14h00 to 15h30 Geneva time)
- GSC meeting closure: Summary of main conclusions and next steps - Closing remarks (Thursday, 29 October from 14h00 to 15h30 Geneva time)
Side sessions: Several side sessions happened during those days. Participants were not expected to attend all of them but rather select those that resonated with their interest. All sessions were open to everyone except the networking sessions that required a limited number of people to be effective. They were as follows:
Open sessions:
- Country presentations: A country-level shelter cluster coordinator presented their country (30”) and answered questions from the audience (30”).
- GSC Working Group or Community of Practice presentations: A WG or CoP presented the highlights of its work (30”) and asked for contributions or questions from the audience (30”).
- GSC Regional Fora presentations: organizations leading regional fora presented the main conclusions and next steps from these fora (30") and received feedback from the audience (30").
- Open Space discussions: These were 30” slots available to discuss any topic that anyone would have liked to share with other Shelter Practitioners. Any topic was welcomed from a proposal of a new global initiative to a good practice from the field. The deadline to submit topics was the 25 Sept.
Closed sessions: upon invitation only:
- Networking events cluster coordinators-shelter advisors: provided an opportunity for country-level coordinators from a certain region to meet other coordinators and global advisors.
- General networking events: provided on a first come first serve basis.
