About Rosianna
Rosianna Halse Rojas is a writer, vlogger, film producer, and co-founder of Life’s Library along with author John Green.
Rosianna has been supporting UNHCR since 2016, when she travelled to Jordan with John to meet Syrian refugees and learn more about the impact of the crisis on young people, especially girls. Following the trip, Rosianna created content about her experience and the scope of UNHCR’s work that she used in the annual 'Project 4 Awesome' digital event, raising much needed funds and awareness for UNHCR. In Jordan, Rosianna and John met a family who they then re-visited in Rockford, Illinois after they had been resettled to the United States.
In 2017, Rosianna was selected to be a YouTube Creator for Change Fellow. She chose to use the grant to travel with UNHCR to Colombia where she met with young forcibly displaced women and taught them how to make their own videos. Following this trip, Rosianna again submitted content to the annual 'Project 4 Awesome' digital event and raised close to $20,000 for UNHCR.
Rosianna regularly supports UNHCR campaigns and emergency appeals on social media and has used her platforms to help highlight the works and stories of prominent refugees with whom she has connected. In 2018, she interviewed UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Yusra Mardini about her inspiring book Butterfly. For Bloomsbury’s 'Lunches Live', she interviewed UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Khaled Hosseini about his beautiful essay Sea Prayer. Most recently, she interviewed former refugee Isabel Allende about her latest novel A Long Petal of the Sea.
