About 2Baba
Announced as UNHCR, Goodwill Ambassador in June 2020, 2Baba (Innocent Ujah Idibia) is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, record producer, and entrepreneur. He has received several awards throughout his career both locally and internationally.
He is founder of The 2Baba Foundation, whose motto is ‘In Service of Humanity’. He is an active supporter of and donor to several humanitarian causes, including UNHCR programs.
2Baba is also a High Level Influencer for UNHCR’s LuQuLuQu campaign. He strongly believes that Africans have the power to change the African refugee narrative: “DoitLuQuLuQu is not just a hashtag, it is a way of life.”
2Baba uses his platform both off and online to raise awareness about the plight of African refugees and why it is crucial, now more than ever, to get involved in supporting forcibly displaced people in Africa and worldwide.
In the spirit of the LuQuLuQu Tribe and a committment to better understand the plight of people forced to flee, 2Baba has visited two camps hosting more than 94,000 IDPs and refugee returnees in Ngala/Gamboru, near the border with Cameroon.
In February, the musician and his 2Baba Foundation donated more than $11,000 to UNHCR for IDPs and returnees. 2Baba has also embarked on a series of activities to further deepen his involvement with the cause including supporting emergency appeals and campaigns, hosting and performing at LuQuLuQu charity concerts, and participating in UNHCR's celebration of World Refugee Day. 2Baba has also been a committed advocate raising awareness of the need to support vulnerable refugee communities in the face of the COVID-19 global pandemic.
2Baba's dedication to the refugee cause is evident in his music. For World Refugee Day in 2017 he released a song dedicated to people forced to flee entitled 'Hold My Hand'. The proceeds from the song were donated to UNHCR.
