UNHCR is the world’s leading refugee agency, providing and coordinating international relief for displaced people at every stage of their situation—in emergencies and in long-term camps and settlements, eventually helping them return home safely or rebuild their lives elsewhere.
Our work at UNHCR strives to ensure that everyone has the right to seek asylum and find safe refuge, with the option to eventually return home or resettle.
UNHCR provides critical assistance during times of displacement, including water, sanitation, healthcare, shelter, blankets, food and more. We also help provide transport and assistance packages to those who return home, and cash assistance for displaced communities who resettle in a new country.

Our Work and Emergencies
In emergencies, we must think quick and act fast. Whether conflict has caused people to flee their homes or political upheaval has displaced a population overnight, UNHCR is there to help.
