How We Fundraise

Currently, UNHCR Canada raises funds in the following ways:  

Online donations 

You can make online donations to UNHCR Canada. The process is secure and simple, and all the information you provide will be kept strictly confidential. To donate online, make a secure donation here.

Direct mail appeals

UNHCR mails out fundraising appeals to our existing donors, as well as to individuals to recruit new donors. Direct mail fundraising appeals to enlist new donors are also carried out with our corporate partners. These mailings are usually co-branded by UNHCR Canada and our respective partners and are sent out to their members to invite them to become supporters of UNHCR. 

Tele-fundraising

Tele-fundraising is a method being used by UNHCR offices around the world. It’s a convenient way for donors to contribute to the work of UNHCR, and also provides UNHCR with an opportunity to have direct conversations with our donors. When you receive a phone call from a UNHCR fundraiser, you can make a donation by telling the fundraiser the amount you want to donate and by providing your credit card number and expiry date.  

We work with Fundraising Direct and Public Outreach on our tele-fundraising campaigns, all telephone conversations between our fundraisers and donors are recorded so that we can insure we are providing our donors with the best quality service. These conversations are kept strictly confidential. 

Television advertisements

UNHCR Canada also advertises on television channels. These fundraising appeals help us enlist new donors and raise awareness of refugee issues.
