Finnish Contributions to UNHCR 

Finland is an important and reliable donor to UNHCR. In 2019 it was the 13th largest donor per capita. UNHCR is the biggest recipient of Finnish multilateral funding. Finland annually gives a large unearmarked contribution to UNHCR.  

Key facts about Finland as a donor: 

• In 2019, Finland provided UNHCR with over USD 22 million, making it the 16th biggest donor. USD 7.8 million of this sum was unearmarked contributions. 

• Recipients of Finnish funding in 2019 included South Sudan situation, Syria situation, Yemen and DR Congo 
• Finland has a thematic funding focus on strengthening support to vulnerable groups in displacement situations, including persons with disabilities and specific needs, which are often rendered invisible in uprooted communities.
• During the Global Refugee Forum, Finland pledged to raise its level of humanitarian funding.
