The world’s worst humanitarian catastrophe is unfolding in Yemen.

Five years of conflict have devastated Yemen, already one of the poorest countries in the Middle East. An estimated 24.1 million Yemenis are in need of urgent humanitarian assistance. Millions more have fled their homes to escape conflict and now face disease and looming famine. The worsening violence is resulting in widespread casualties and massive displacement, further compounded by cholera outbreaks and food shortages.

The COVID-19 pandemic has only made things worse, with a fatality rate in Yemen among the highest worldwide.

You can save lives

Over 3.6 million people are now displaced– and amongst them, 80% are women and children, stranded in their own country with nowhere to run. Many face desperate conditions as they struggle to survive and search for safety, shelter and emergency aid. 80% of the population rely on aid to survive. Yemen is also sheltering over 280,000 refugees and asylum seekers who have fled violence in the neighbouring Horn of Africa region.

Limited funding – currently at only 3 percent – restricts the UNHCR's capacity to provide life-saving relief. Without help, many more lives will be lost to violence, treatable illnesses or lack of food, water and shelter.

You can help families to meet their most urgent needs, including food, rent and medicine, while in displacement.
