    There is no migration/refugee crisis in Europe. Very low arrival and "secondary movement" figures are the opportunity for EU states to focus together on real issues like asylum reform, safe pathways and more+better aid to refugee hosting+transit countries.

    A bit of context No. of people arriving by boat to Europe across Mediterranean in 2018 is around 44,000 SIX times less than same period in 2016 & far from peak in 2015 Real issue is for 5th year in a row, more than 1,000 have died. Saving lives at sea has to be top priority

    It is not enough to have political agreements between States when people continue to drown in the Mediterranean. Rescue at sea, disembarkation and safe pathways must all be urgently improved so that lives can be saved.

    One of the most powerful memories of my time here is the Rohingya youngsters I’ve met forced to flee their homes. They have an incredible resilience & ability to bounce back. We need to support them with more educational opportunities & ensure No Lost Generation
