People with Disabilities
People with disabilities often face economic, social and environmental hardships – and a heightened risk of violence, exploitation and abuse, including sexual and gender-based violence.
The exclusion from essential services, education and livelihoods which they often face at home can be much greater than for others when they have to flee their homes.
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is observed annually on 3 December to reaffirm the equal rights of people with disabilities and to mark the positive contributions they make to their families, communities and workplaces.
