AWAKE AT NIGHT
What does it take to be a humanitarian worker in some of the world’s most difficult and dangerous locations? Melissa Fleming finds out.

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is launching a podcast series entitled ‘Awake at Night’ focused on the incredible people who have dedicated their lives to helping people who have been forced to flee. Listeners will join UNHCR’s communications chief, Melissa Fleming, in personal conversations with an array of humanitarian workers, and learn what drives them to risk their own lives protecting and assisting people displaced by war.

UNHCR is launching the podcast at a time when refugee numbers around the world are hitting new highs and humanitarian work is becoming more dangerous. In these intimate interviews, men and women who have worked in war zones reveal for the first time in public some of their deepest fears and the emotional wounds they carry.

Our goal is to give listeners insight into the people who serve the victims of war on the frontline.
