Access to information must be seen as a fundamental human right. Information is a form of assistance in itself, allowing people to make informed decisions that enhance their own protection and well-being. At the same time, dialogue and feedback enable UNHCR to draw on the insights, knowledge, capacities, skills and resources of refugee communities and adjust registration approaches based on their input. Communication and participation are central to a ‘people-centred approach’, giving a voice to women, men, girls and boys, and helping to improve the overall quality of initial and continuous registration activities.
Communicating with Communities about Registration
Communication in the registration context refers both to information campaigns carried out to prepare a population for a specific registration activity, as well as the ongoing communication activities that support continuous registration.
