Inaugurated in December 2018, the Reference and Support Center for Refugees and Migrants in Manaus (CARE) in Manaus is an initiative of ADRA Brasil Regional Amazonas in partnership with UNHCR, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the European Union and the Municipality of Manaus. CARE services will be provided by various partners, such as the Public Defender’s Office (DPU), Télécoms Sans Frontières, Cáritas Arquiodicesana de Manaus, the Municipal Secretary for Women, Social Assistance and Citizenship (SEMMASC), the Department of Human Rights and Federal Police, among others.
Free international calls, legal counseling, scheduling of asylum claims, psychological counseling, curriculum translation and Portuguese lessons are some of the services available at CARE to assist the population of refugees and immigrants living in Manaus.
