Persons applying for asylum in North Macedonia are subject to the national laws and asylum procedures that are in place.
UNHCR supervises the implementation of the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees and its 1967 Protocol in North Macedonia and measures undertaken to end statelessness and prevent it from reoccurring, in line with the 1954 Convention relating to the Status of Stateless Persons and to the 1961 Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness, to which the North Macedonia is signatory state.
