Will you stand HandInHand
with Syrian refugees this Ramadan?
Israa is a little girl with simple dreams. She lost her parents in the war in Syria, but she calls her aunt and uncle by the names mum and dad. “After Ramadan, comes the Eid…” she told us. “I’d like to get a dress. I’ll get one if dad has enough money. But if he hasn’t, I will simply deal with it. And God will remember the good girl that I am.” We are doubling our efforts to help the vast number of Syrian refugees who have lost loved ones in the war this Ramadan; the mothers struggling alone, and the children overshadowed by the absence of their parents.
Thanks to people like you, UNHCR provides 60,000 refugee families with cash assistance in Jordan and Lebanon, allowing families living precariously to afford some stability – a roof over their heads, clean water to drink, food on the table, and to meet their children’s needs. Of this number, 6,617 families are either headed by widows or supporting orphaned children.
We are devoting all of our resources to make sure that children like Israa are not left to struggle alone this Ramadan, but we can’t do it without your help.
We need your support in order to:
1. Tackle rising malnutrition.
2. Provide support to malnourished refugees on arrival to UNHCR protected areas.
3. Prevent and contain diseases, which can make malnutrition worse.
4. Ensure treatment for those who are malnourished.
5. Ensure that families are protected in the Longer Term.
6. Provide support for pregnant women and new mums.
