Availability of the Internship   As soon as possible

 

Work Plan and Assigned Tasks:

 

·         Provide counseling to asylum seekers and refugees in Bangkok Refugee Center (BRC) and Immigration Detention Centre (IDC) with guidance from the Protection Unit

·         Along with the Protection Associate or Protection Assistant, conduct home visits to vulnerable asylum seekers/refugees and assess their living conditions and protection needs

·         Assist Protection Associate in documenting and reporting counseling sessions provided to urban refugees and asylum seekers, which may include scheduling of protections/orientation sessions

·         Conduct needs assessment for asylum seekers who fall into special need categories and provide an initial written report for finalization by Protection Associate

·         Enter data in the registration/ProGres database on community services tasks such as counseling, home visits, assistance and training

·         Assist the protection unit information compilation as needed

·         Perform other duties as assigned

 

 

Qualification Requirements

 

·         University degree in law, social sciences, international relations or related fields by the start date of the internship

·         Previous experience in working with refugee communities would be an asset

·         Fluency in English (written and spoken)

·         Excellent English reporting and drafting skills

·         Strong inter-personal skills, cultural sensitivity, and ability to work in an international environment

·         Computer literate
