Povratnici

Za mnoge osobe koje su istjerane iz svojih domova, dobrovoljni povratak kući u sigurnosti i dostojanstvu označava uspješan kraj traume. Od ostalih trajnih rješenja koja UNHCR traži za izbjeglice, samo manjina ima priliku biti preseljena u treće zemlje ili lokalno integrirana u svojim zemljama domaćinima. U slučajevima potrebe uredi UNHCR-a u zemlji primateljici također pomažu i prate njihovu reintegraciju kako bi osigurali da povratak u domovinu postane održivo rješenje.

U Republici Hrvatskoj UNHCR od početka provođenja svojih aktivnosti podržava Vladu Republike Hrvatske u procesu povratka stotine tisuća interno raseljenih osoba i većinskih/manjinskih povratnika u njihove predratne domove.

Returnees

For many people forced from their homes, a voluntary return home in safety and dignity marks the successful end to the trauma. Of the other durable solutions that UNHCR seeks for refugees, only a minority have the opportunity to be resettled to third countries or to be locally integrated into their host societies. Where necessary and possible, UNHCR offices in the receiving country also assist and monitor their reintegration to ensure the repatriation was a sustainable solution.

In the Republic of Croatia, since its engagement, UNHCR supported the Government of Croatia in returning hundreds of thousands of IDP’s and majority/minority returnees to their pre-conflict homes.
