Objectif(s) | Helping refugees achieve self-sufficiency by supporting income-generating activities for refugees who are unwilling or unable to access formal employment or microcredit schemes. |
Results/Impact | Fourteen resettled families benefited in 2010. This initiative has been extended in 2011 to include asylum-seekers in the country. |
Why is this considered a Good practice? | The project replaced a prior bilateral agreement with a microcredit agency that had ended in 2009. BO Brazil developed a pilot project under the resettlement program to support refugees with an entrepreneurial profile so that, under the guidance of the implementing partner and a voluntary contribution of the local community (volunteer work, donations), income-generating activities are implemented with the help of small grants. |
