Objectif(s) | Training for job seeking in the local labor market. Access to job searches. |
Results/Impact | Manpower carries out a workshop on a monthly basis in Argentina for refugees and asylum-seekers in the premises of implementing partners. On average 130 people per year are trained in Argentina on job seeking skills, resume writing, job interviews, etc. Workshop participants receive support to place their resumes via Internet, and then attend interviews at Manpower Consultancy for job searches. In Argentina, 80% of attendants entered the Manpower Consultancy database, accessing employment opportunities. Of those who entered the database in Argentina, 35% landed job interviews with employers. 45% of those with access to a job interview in Argentina obtained employment. In Uruguay, from 14 trainees (the project began in 2010), two obtained formal employment. |
Why is this considered a Good practice? | Working with Manpower is considered good practice because refugees and asylum-seekers without knowledge of the labor market in the host country acquire such knowledge in a dynamic and clear manner, without direct costs for UNHCR. In addition, establishing contact with the consultant facilitates access to formal employment to these people, given that they enter the consultant database after the workshop and a percentage of them obtain access to formal employment. |
