Living with physical and mental disabilities is challenging. However, refugees with disabilities face more challenges as they are less likely to have their protection and basic needs met.
UNHCR Iran is committed to identifying and assisting refugees with specific needs, which includes refugees with disablities.
UNHCR provides support to persons with specific needs through targeted cash-based and in-kind assistance, referral to governmental and non-governmental partners and inclusion in relevant programmes.
With the support of the State Welfare Organisation (SWO), assistance to persons with specific needs has been further enhanced, especially for the elderly and for persons with disabilities.
