About David

British actor David Morrissey has been supporting UNHCR since 2014 and was announced as a Goodwill Ambassador in March 2017.

In March 2017 David visited Syrian refugees in Lebanon - at the time the country hosting the highest number of Syrian refugees per capita in the world. You can read about the trip, and David's reflections, here.

David has also visited Syrian families in Zaatari refugee camp and Amman in Jordan, and has travelled to the Greek island of Lesvos to meet refugees who have made the perilous journey across the Aegean to seek safety in Europe.

He has highlighted the work of UNHCR through extensive media across many territories and helped shine a spotlight on refugee stories via his social media channels. David has supported key UNHCR events and campaigns, including World Refugee Day, the IBelong campaign to end statelessness, the Nansen Refugee Award and a film highlighting the important difference between refugees and migrants and the different protection they are entitled to under international law. He has also supported a number of fundraising initiatives, and in September 2016 addressed the Refugees Welcome rally in London's Parliament Square.
