DUSHANBE – Tajikistan's anticorruption agency says a lawyer representing jailed former oligarch Nizomkhon Juraev has been arrested on forgery and corruption charges.
Defense lawyer Berdiqul Rasulov has allegedly admitted helping his clients bribe prosecutors.
Another of Juraev's lawyers has recently been detained on similar charges.
Juraev, formerly a director of a chemical plant and one of the wealthiest men in the country, is currently under arrest on charges of embezzlement and racketeering.
Observers say Juraev began having legal troubles after falling out with President Emomali Rahmon's influential family.
Juraev fled to Moscow but was arrested there in 2010 on a Tajik warrant.
Earlier this year he resurfaced in Tajikistan under unexplained circumstances and told state media that he had come back to face justice at home.
