At least 25 Iraqi security force members have been killed in two separate attacks on prisons near Baghdad.
Iraqi officials said on July 22 that the coordinated assaults to free inmates from the prisons in Abu Ghraib and Taji began late the previous night and lasted for hours.
Authorities said no prisoners escaped, but militants claimed on the Internet that thousands got away.
At least six attackers were reported killed.
In northern Iraq, officials said a suicide bomber rammed his explosives-filled car into a passing military patrol in Mosul on July 22.
The number of casualties remains unclear, with reports of at least 12 and possibly up to 25 people killed, including soldiers and civilians.
It was not immediately clear who was behind the blast.
