Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in Egypt on a two-day official visit aimed at boosting Moscow's ties with Cairo.

Putin was greeted at the Cairo international airport by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.

The two were scheduled to attend the Cairo Opera House during the evening of February 9.

The main meeting between the two presidents was scheduled for February 10.

Putin was also scheduled to meet with the Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa Feodor II.

Putin last visited Egypt in 2005.
