At least 15 people have been killed in unrest in Egypt as the country marked the fourth anniversary of its 2011 popular uprising.
State media say the toll includes nine civilians killed in clashes between police and protesters on January 25.
The Interior Ministry said a police officer was shot dead in clashes with Islamist protesters in a north Cairo neighborhood that also killed a number of demonstrators. It was not clear whether the policeman was included in the toll of 15 people.
In central Cairo, police violently dispersed hundreds of protesters who tried to march on the central Tahrir Square, the epicenter of the revolt that toppled President Hosni Mubarak.
And two suspected Islamists died when a bomb they were placing under a high voltage tower exploded.
Islamists are opposed to the rule of President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi.
