Albania has made efforts in the protection of national minorities, including in the field of education and the provision of schools and classes for the Greek and Macedonian national minorities. However, the sizable minority of Egyptians has not received the same attention, and recognition remains a problem. There are plans to implement a national strategy for Roma, which is greatly needed as the Roma community is faced with immense problems in terms of discrimination and prejudice in a number of societal settings. The socio-economic gap between Roma and the rest of the population is considerable.
