GOVERNMENT
National Recruitment Legislation and Practice
Conscription has never existed in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).2002 As a reaction to the invasion of Kuwait in 1990, there were proposals to introduce reservist training, but this has yet to materialise. The minimum age for voluntary recruitment is not known. Foreign volunteers form at least 30 per cent of the armed forces of the UAE.2003
