The attached letter of 15 April 1996, which was sent to the DIRB by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) office in Ottawa, provides information on the process of convention refugee determination in Morocco. The letter does not provide statistics on the number of claims made since 1988, the success rate, nor on convention refugee claims made by Iraqis.
This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
