The EU has accused the sanctioned individuals of involvement in the attacks on the besieged Syrian city of Aleppo (file photo).
The European Union added 10 more Syrians to its sanctions list, accusing them of involvement in the attacks on the besieged city of Aleppo.
The EU said in a statement October 27 that the new individuals included high-ranking military officials and senior figures linked to the regime.
They were listed "for being responsible for the violent repression against the civilian population in Syria" or benefiting from ties to the Syrian regime.
The addition brings the total number of persons targeted by a travel ban and an asset freeze related to the Syrian conflict to 217. A total of 69 entities, including companies and associations, have also been targeted.
Last week, EU foreign ministers joined United Nations officials in suggesting that the attacks on Aleppo could amount to war crimes.
Syrian and Russian jets have been pounding the city since a cease-fire fell apart earlier this month.
Air strikes have been halted for nine days now in expectations of the evacuations. Those efforts have failed, however, because Syrian rebels say there have been no safety guarantees for the evacuees.
Some 275,000 people are believed to remain in eastern districts of Aleppo.
